Are you a good Catholic Citizen?
Catholics have a religious and moral obligation to be faithful citizens. We carry out this duty in many ways — by running for political office; by working within political parties; by communicating our concerns and positions to our elected officials; and by joining Church and community organizations that seek justice and the common good in society. Check out the resources to help you form your conscience in light of Catholic teaching and become better informed about issues of importance to the Catholic community.
February 2016: Announcements/Anuncios
Stay tuned for updates!
February 6, is the first Friday of the month.
Please join us for the Eucharistic Adoration at 7:00pm in our church.
In our prayers, we include vocations, all the needs of our parish, and our families.
“Could you not watch one hour with me?” - Mark 14:37
Mass Intentions: An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for several reasons such
as for thanksgiving, intentions of another person (i.e., birthday), or, as is most common, the repose of the soul of someone who has died. One must never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s soul. Please stop by the church to request a mass.
We are in need of altar servers! Please call the church office at (310) 323-0030 to sign up. We are hoping to get the training in prior to Ash Wednesday and be prepared for Lent and Easter.
You are invited to join the Lenten Reflection classes at our church with Sister Ugocha Chukwuleta on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm, beginning February 16. Please call the church office to register.
Do you love to sing? Are you interested in joining one of the choirs, especially as we prepare for Lent and Holy Week? Please call our choir coordinator, Mrs. Jül Marie, at (310) 323-0030.
This year, “Though we are many, we are one”- Together in Mission 2016, the Archdiocese has assigned Maria Regina with the goal of $33,900.00. If each family could give just $70, we would reach our goal. More information on Together in Mission.
Annual Candles: In the lighting of candles we remember and truly live the words of Our Lord: "I am the Light of the World." In the lighting of candles we not only pray, but our prayers become smaller symbols of the One Light of Christ. We have annual candles
available for only $100, which includes an engraved gold-plated plaque placed in front of your candle. If you are interested, please call the church office (310-323-0030).
Building On Our Foundation
YES! We are still moving forward on our goal to reach 600 bricks! Please keep up the good work.
456: Total number of pledged bricks
143: Total number of bricks still needed to reach 600 total bricks
63: Bricks paid in full and ready for 3rd column.
46: Bricks with balances (32% of the total pledged amount has been paid)
Thank you: ...to all the families who support our building fund efforts.
Please help: We need 143 more families to sponsor a brick to enable us to continue towards completion of this project. Our goal is to have 600 families sponsor a brick.
The commitment: $5 dollars a week OR $21 dollars a month for the next two years.
God's Help and Blessings: Each of us helping just a little results in great things happening.
A little history: 55 years ago, a small group of families gathered here in Gardena and made plans to construct our church and school. Now, 56 years later, another much larger group of families gathers in the fruit of their labors at our beautiful parish.
Gratitude: We have so much to be thankful for at Maria Regina. One of the ways we give thanks is by preparing and providing for our future generations of our parish.
Please help! Please click on the link below to register and commit today to Building on Our Foundation.
We, the People of God, under the patronage of Maria Regina, Queen of Heaven and Earth, are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ in this time and in this place. As members of the Body of Christ we gather to worship at the Altar of the Lord in Word and Eucharist, in which we are nourished. From here we go forth as disciples in the power of the Holy Spirit to make the Good News of Jesus Christ alive in our world.
